Took the truck to the Hagerty event today...obviously not in the same class as the cars there, but if they can fix a 250 or 328, I can eventually get my truck back to perfection.

Kinja'd!!!

Changed filters, oil, lubricated joints today. Filled the tank 89 Ethanol free. Tomorrow I will wash and wax, then take the plates off and the season will be over.

I know people think the truck looks good so far, but... underneath the hood and body you can see it has never actually been worked on.

I’d be interested on hearing how bad people think the rust actually is on a scale from cosmetic to david tracey would refuse it.

IMO that’s pretty clean. Almost entirely cosmetic. However, I live in Ohio.

In my admittedly still very-novice opinion, that looks like surface rust. Here in Indiana you could see a new  car on the dealer lot with nearly that much.

That frame looks totally fine to me. Looks like surface rust

Yeah, pretty clean to me. Guessing you don’t undercoat it? Maybe you should start undercoating it to help keep any rust from getting worse? :)

None of that looks unusually bad to me, except maybe those rear shocks. But then the Dodge of a similar vintage I drove years ago had exhaust puffing out the side of the muffler through a rust hole, so maybe don’t trust my judgement.

That is wayyyy less rusty than my NJ miata that's for sure! Definitely grind that crap off before winter though. Should be easy to wire wheel that pretty clean and then spray with a rust inhibitor.

It doesn’t look that bad underneath.

No, that just locks in the water. You can go oil coat, but do NOT get undercoat

No? I’ve not heard that before! I was getting undercoatings for years...the waxy stuff, before I switched to oil-based and there’s next to no rust under my car?

I knew a dude with a mint 454 s10, except the frame got rusted out because he got undercoat that basically trapped water against the frame.

Didn’t he let it dry before he got the undercoating...?
